There have been many great leaders throughout our history. Some leaders
have had major impacts on people. One of these leader’s is Susan B.
Anthony. Susan B. Anthony was a great leader to all women because she had
a vital impact on gaining women’s suffrage. She is a big part in why women
are respected greater today.
Susan B. Anthony was born on February 15, 1820, in Adams,
Massachusetts. 1820 was a good year to be born Susan B. Anthony (Barry,
5). The generation of women born in the 1820’s, were the first to start a
political movement of women in the United States. Susan was the second of
seven children. Her mother, Lucy Read; and her father, Daniel Anthony;
were married in 1817. They had their first child, Guelma, in 1818. The eight
children; Guelma, Susan, Hannah, Daniel, Mary, Eliza, and J. Merritt; were
born only sixteen years apart. All of the children survived birth, but Eliza
died a year after her birth in 1833. The Anthony’s were Quakers. ...
