Yes to Year-Round Schooling

The traditional school calendar in the United States was set when children had to help in the fields and most mothers did not work outside the home. Families today have a completely different life-style that reflects in the apparent success of year-round schooling. Instead of a long summer vacation, children at Park View Elementary in Mooresville, North Carolina go to school year round with shorter but more frequent mini-vacations. Praised by educators and parents as a way for students to learn better and schools to operate more efficiently, year-round schooling is steadily catching on in the U.S.
On the other hand, St. Tammany Parish schools in southern Louisiana following the traditional school calendar, are uncomfortably overcrowded.
