Working Hour and Compensation
Double day shift is two rotating shifts where the workers are divided into groups. Each group of workers is required to work eight hours per shift. For example;
Shift 1 8.00am to 4.00pm.
Shift 2 4.00pm to 12.00am.
It is normally practiced in manufacturing industry and allows the factory to run 16 hours per day with the purpose to increase the production capacity. Besides, the workers able to earn extra income as shift works normally offer attractive allowance.
Split shift system most commonly found in the hotel industry which involves working several hours in peak period such as in the morning. This system enables the organization to engage the maximum workforce to cope the certain peak business hour of the day.
