THE LIFE OF GIROLAMO CARDANO

Girolamo Cardano, who is also referred to as Jerome Cardan, is a famous Italian mathematician that had a very interesting life and he overcame many obstacles which is why I selected him as the subject of my report. Born in 1501 he actually survived his mothers multiple attempts to have an abortion. Once born he spent his childhood with the same mother who try to abort him and a father who showed no affection to him. His early years were filled with many illnesses. Finally in 1520, he escaped from his family situation when he entered the University of Pavia. He graduated from the university in 1526 with a medical degree.

In 1531, he married Lucia Bandarini, and they had two sons and a daughter. Cardano wrote that during this time of his life he found that the things he did before a full moon turned out successfully. He became a believer in astrology because of the what he believed to be the relationship between the planets and life on earth.
