Newtownards

Newtownards was influenced by Christianity and this is represented by such names as "kil" meaning "church".Castles mark newtownards history built by the O'Niells in the 14th century,and early christian communities such as Movilla Abbey built in the 6th century by St Finian.O'Niell later destroyed these communities to prevent them from becoming a threat.
