momThe landscape of the Eastern Conference has been shaken up in recent weeks. Atlanta has obtained Glenn “Big Dog” Robinson, Boston added Vin Baker and Shammond Williams, Cleveland added young stud Darius Miles, Detroit added Chauncey Billups, Milwaukee added Toni Kukoc, New Orleans signed star point guard Baron Davis to a contract extension, New York obtained Antonio McDyess, Orlando added Pat Garrity and Jacque Vaughn, Washington added Larry Hughes, and today the New Jersey Nets acquired All-Star center Dikembe Mutombo.

Whew! Just reading through these transactions is enough to make my head spin – and this list doesn’t even include players from the NBA draft this summer. Isn’t the Western Conference supposed to be the big boys of the NBA? This summer GM’s from numerous Eastern Conference teams have made bold moves in attempts to bolster their clubs chances at winning an elusive NBA championship.
