Media coverage of men vs Women in college sports.

Men’s sports have always dominated media coverage, especially on the college level. Currently, there doesn’t seem to be as much room in the sporting arenas for sports coverage of female athletes. We may be able to understand why by more closely examining the commercial appeal of certain sports and their power structures, which are beyond the scope of this paper. But it seems impossible to deny that in its current form, women in sports are not represented equally. Nevertheless, in the last few years, coverage of women’s sports has become more and more common. If the ratio of men to women who play college sports was the same, the media would still favor the more popular games like football and basketball over sports like girls basketball and tennis.
