Glaciers
Glaciers are masses of ice in motion. There are
different kinds of glaciers, different because of the way
they are formed. They are made from layers of snow and ice.
There are three types of glaciers. There are valley
glaciers, piedmont glaciers, and continental glaciers.
Valley glaciers form at high elevations where snow lasts
year after year in hollows or abandoned rivers. Piedmont
glaciers are valley glaciers that extend onto a plain. At
the bottom of mountains, ice forms into a continuos sheet as
the glaciers spread out onto the plains and join. A
