Land Use Conflicts In The Lake District Land Use Conflicts In The Lake District Throughout the Lake District, there are three primary arguments concerning land use, these are as follows; • Tourists versus Residents • Tourists versus Tourists • Tourists versus Farmers From the above information we can conclude that tourists are obviously not the most popular in the Lake District. The Residents have good reason to argue with the tourists, during the holiday season, and during bank holidays, incoming and outgoing tourist traffic to popular areas known as honey-pots causes traffic congestion on the narrow, long, winding Lake District roads. This congestion not only aggravates the locals, but can also lead to the delay of emergency service vehicles (i.e. Ambulances, Police Cars).
