Islamic culture and the classroom

A culture that I do not know much about is a very difficult one to define in such a short paper. It’s also difficult to find a culture that I know little about. Because of my diverse high school, and the neighborhood that I grew up in, I was shown many different cultures by many different people. If I had to choose a culture that interested me the most I would have to pick the Muslim faith, known as Islam.
The history of Islam is not a long one. The prophet Mohamed founded it in approximately 622 a.d. he passed it on to his followers as he journeyed to Mecca, the holy land of the Muslim faith. Mecca is in what is now present day Saudi Arabia. Mohamed was shunned at first, but then he began to have the faith grow in popularity and spread throughout the world. Because the religion is only 1400 years old, it is one of the newest religions, as well as being one of the biggest, second only to Christianity.
