I witnessed a fight

Gail saw the car pull up in front of the house with its lights off. She saw her sister, Lynne, get out of the car. Lynne closed the door with a soft click and waved goodbye without saying anything. She watched her friends drive off. Gail looked out the window at the streetlight. She felt kind of sad and thought, "Why doesn't she just come home on time? It would be so much easier."
Lynne stood under the streetlight for a long time looking at the front door of our house. "She doesn't want to come inside," Gail thought. "She is probably thinking that Dad is waiting for her. She probably thinks he is watching her out the window, but it's just me." Gail heard something amd shifted her weight slowly in the darkness to look behind her. The hall light was on again.
