I was blind

I was blind to everything around me. The sensation was new and exciting, and I felt as if I was somehow in another world. I was in a world of blackness, but somehow, my other senses compensated for this loss. It was as if my hearing was an instrument- newly tuned in to my surroundings.

I felt around in the blackness, searching for something or someone. It was a bright, pleasant day. The sun was warm on my back, and I could smell the tall grass around me. The wind blew my hair from my face, and for a brief moment I thought I saw someone, but I knew I must have imagined it. “Hello!!” I cried. “Is anyone there?? Somebody! Anybody!” I started to run in that direction, lumbering through the tall grass. I soon became tired however, and the warm sun combined with a lack of water made me feel lightheaded. I...
