Carl Jung

One of the most influential people in psychology is Carl Jung. Carl Jung was born on July 26, 1875 in Kesswil, a small village near Romanshorn on Lake Constance, in the Swiss canton of Thurgau. Carl Jung was the second born child of Johann Paul Achilles Jung, Ph.D and his wife, Emilie nee Preiswerk. Johann and Emilie’s firstborn child had died after a few days after his birth. Carl Jung was an only child until the age nine when his sister, Johanna Gertrud Jung was born. Her nickname was Trudi. Carl Jung died in 6 June 1961 in his home in Kusnacht. His funeral was on June 9, 1961 in the Kusnacht cemetery. (Wehr, 1988)
At age twenty-one, Carl Jung first saw a sixteen year old girl by the name of Emma Rauschenbach. Even before he spoke to her, he knew she would be his wife. Emma came from an old Swiss German family and was an educated beautiful woman.
