ANSEL EASTON ADAMSA BIOGRAPHY

Ansel Adams was born to Charles Hitchcock Adams and Olive Bray Adams on February 20, 1902. For the first part of his life he enjoyed a wealthy lifestyle due to his grandfather’s prosperous business. After his father retired, Charles Adams took over the family business but a series of calamities, including a devastating earthquake in April of 1906, caused the Adams family to lose their fortune and live in the brink of bankruptcy for the rest of Charles’s life.
During this time, Ansel attended many public and private schools, but his hyperactive behavior caused him to be expelled from all of them, from when he was nine until he was 12 years old and was educated at home by his father and other private tutors. It was then when he started showing interest in the piano, an instrument that his mother mastered. His father encouraged his interest by hiring very strict piano teachers, one of which taught him discipline and the pursuit of long-term goals despite his hyperactive persona...
